Festival of the Imaginary

‘Oli's Imaginary Museum’ is first and foremost a living exhibition, open to all, punctuated by events, concerts, workshops, performances, conferences and open stages. This is the spirit behind the Oli x Inès Longevial x Views talk.

At the invitation of Les Abattoirs, Views journalist Matthieu Fortin will host a talk between artist Inès Longevial and Oli. The genesis of this special exhibition conceived by Oli will be discussed. Le Musée imaginaire d'Oli showcases works chosen according to the artist's sensibilities, his personal history and his practice of rap, creating new encounters while inviting us to rethink the role of the museum, its spaces and our relationship with works of art. These representations of a real or imaginary world form the basis of an approach to art that is open to all views and interpretations. They embody a non-uniform vision of art.

Among the artists selected by Oli is Inès Longevial. Together, they will discuss their respective artistic paths and the creative and distribution issues specific to their disciplines. The issues surrounding artistic entrepreneurship, with Oli's Musée Imaginaire as a case study, will also be at the heart of this discussion.

Views is an audio and video magazine created in 2016 to share the best of urban culture and create unique content in France. Since its creation, it has become one of the benchmark media in these fields, standing out for its high-quality content designed by and for today's youth.

Inès Longevial was born in 1990 in Agen, in the south-west of France, a region she left at the age of 23 to settle in Paris. From a very early age, the artist devoted herself to drawing, which she discovered through Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani. Later, it was Paula Modersohn-Becker, Georgia O'Keeffe and Niki de Saint-Phalle who would clearly influence her work. The pleasure of colour drew her to painting from the age of 8. It quickly became a daily occupation, but above all a vocation.

Self-portraiture became her favourite genre, but also her playground: the palette as well as the drawing are given the freedom to follow a poetic and dreamy imagination. Her landscape-like faces unfold a candid, dreamlike universe that resonates with the outside world, which imbues them with its own colours and moods. Inès Longevial has always drawn her inspiration from variations in light, insofar as they convey and capture an impression, a sensation, a feeling. Imbued with a melancholy softness that can be combined with acid tones, over the years these portraits have given way to greater purity and in-depth work on skin tone, shadows and relief. Through these fragments of skin and details of posture, the artist seeks to reclaim her body and assert her femininity. These silent, inhabited women also, and above all, paint a portrait of her relationship with the world and her condition as an artist.
