Join us for « Petites histoires de grandes artistes », animated videos presented by director Sophie Caron. Then extend your discovery of women artists and their practices with a workshop prepared by an Abattoirs mediator.

« Petites histoires de grandes artistes » (Stories of great women artists) is an original project of fun and educational animated videos, aimed at children from age 7 as well as older children.

The aim of each episode? In just a few minutes, discover the life and work of a woman artist from the 19th or 20th century. Each story highlights the originality of the artist's approach, her importance within an artistic movement, some key biographical events and the difficulties she may have encountered in practising her art.

Once a month, you can discover a theme or period in the history of art, and then create your own work in a hands-on workshop! On Saturday 19 October, discover the pioneering female artists of photography by exploring the work of Julia Margaret Cameron, Dora Maar and Berenice Abbott.

The workshop is presented in partnership with AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research & Exhibitions, an association that works to give visibility to women artists from the 18th century to the present day, regardless of medium or country. For further information: https://awarewomenartists.com/

The workshop is open to children with accompanying adults, maximum 15 people.
