Open Stages Slam
Open stage (registration required) hosted by Sebseb
"Le musée imaginaire d'Oli" is first and foremost a living exhibition, open to all, punctuated by events, concerts, workshops, performances, conferences and open stages. The first guests will come from the slam scene, with a performance by slammer Sebseb.
Slam is a model of the open stage, created by Marc Smith in Chicago in the 1980s. No particular style of writing is required, and the space welcomes rappers, poets, storytellers, singers, improvisers, stand-up comedians and so on. There's no specific form of writing, just free speech. The only rules are: 3 minutes maximum, a cappella, a text of your own creation, no costumes, scenery or props. The words are naked!
This is your stage!
If you'd like to read a script, you'll need to sign up first: inscriptionslam@gmail.com.
Places are limited, and the first e-mails received will be the first served.
Two dates:
- Sunday 15 December 2024 at 3pm
- Sunday 9 February 2025 at 3pm
Registration for 15 December is now full! To give you a chance to have your say, a second open stage will be held on 9 February. Entries will be announced on the Instagram accounts @lemuseeimaginairedoli and @lesabattoirs!
Please note that you are not registered until you have received explicit confirmation!
Thank you in advance for not blocking access to others by registering without coming, and for being on time (3pm) on the day.
Obviously, a text said, a free entry offered! Come along with your +1!
A jam is all about notes, a slam is all about words!
As kids, Oli and his brother frequented Toulouse's slam scene. So they have a rightful place in Oli's imaginary museum!
Who is Sebseb?
Sebseb started out as a self-taught musician, with the group Irie Member, who made a big splash on the French reggae-dancehall scene. After a career that culminated in the release of their album and a tour of Chile and France, with concerts at the Élysée Montmartre and many other venues, Sebseb set off in search of new horizons. Motivated by his colleagues at 129H and Shakyamuni, he went on to sharpen his pen on the Paris slam scene. Quickly recognised as an essential pillar of the milieu, he was published by Universlam, and took part in concerts in Mali, Benin and France.
On his return to Toulouse, the city of his origins, his music was quickly noticed in the region. His career took a new turn. His shows and his musicians can be found at all the biggest slam festivals in France: Grand Micro de Bois, Nuits Du Slam, Rencontres Slam de Bretagne, Coupe de la Ligue Slam de France, Slam So Poit, as well as in Montreal, Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Aubagne, Nantes, Saint-Brieuc, Pau, Agen, Perpignan and Montpellier.
