Open Slam Scenes
Open Slam Scenes (registration required) hosted by Sebseb
Festival of the Imaginary
‘Oli's Imaginary Museum’ is first and foremost an exhibition designed to be lively and open to all, punctuated by events, concerts, workshops, performances, lectures and open stages. The first guest is the slammer Sebseb, who invites you to take part in a slam stage he will be hosting.
Slam is a model of the open stage, created by Marc Smith in Chicago in the 1980s. No particular style of writing is required, and the space welcomes rappers, poets, storytellers, singers, improvisers, stand-up comedians and so on. There's no specific form of writing, just free speech. The only rules are: 3 minutes maximum, a cappella, a text of your own creation, no costumes, scenery or props. The words are naked!
Registration is now closed!
Many of you have registered, thank you very much!
Remember: don't block access for others by registering without coming, and be on time (3pm) on the day.
A jam is with notes, a slam is with words!
As kids, Oli and his brother frequented Toulouse's slam scenes. So they have a rightful place in Oli's imaginary museum!
Who is Sebseb ?
Sebseb started out as a self-taught musician, with the group ‘Irie Member’, which made a big splash on the French reggae-dancehall scene. After a career that culminated in the release of their album and a tour of Chile and France, with concerts at the Élysée Montmartre and many other venues, Sebseb set off in search of new horizons. Motivated by his colleagues at 129H and Shakyamuni, he went on to sharpen his pen on the Paris slam scene. Quickly recognised as a key figure in the milieu, he was published by Universlam, and took part in concerts in Mali, Benin and France.
On his return to Toulouse, the city of his origins, his music was quickly noticed in the region. His career took a new turn. His shows and his musicians can be found at all the biggest slam festivals in France: Grand Micro de Bois, Nuits Du Slam, Rencontres Slam de Bretagne, Coupe de la Ligue Slam de France, Slam So Poit, as well as in Montreal, Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Aubagne, Nantes, Saint-Brieuc, Pau, Agen, Perpignan and Montpellier.
