FERREPSY is organising the 2nd Arts and Care Day on 21 November 2024 in the auditorium of Les Abattoirs, Musée - Frac Occitanie Toulouse. The event is open to all, users, professionals and the general public.

The aim is not to conflate art and care, but to move from one to the other.

More and more initiatives are springing up in the field of mental health care and recovery, the aim of which is not to create care in the strict sense of the term, but to make it easier to ‘move towards’. They guide people in care towards cultural and artistic opportunities in the city, overcoming the obstacles associated with symptoms, stigmatisation and self-stigmatisation. Some cultural and artistic institutions are also taking an active role in this approach: they want to welcome all audiences, especially those who do not dare.

So, on this second Arts and Care day, we will be looking at a number of innovative care, artistic and cultural initiatives, which suggest that there is a pathway from the world of care to the world of the arts, and that it enables users to find fulfilment.

Secondly, we will look at the possibility of a return journey: could artistic projects lead to care or facilitate access to it? Art spaces could thus play a role in de-stigmatising mental health care and become facilitators of care and ‘getting better’.
